For vapers who love to holiday and travel, whether it be two weeks in Spain or a six month long worldwide trip of a lifetime, there’s a lot to consider.
Navigating the various legalities of vaping in different countries, from bars to airports, and how easy it is to stock up while on the road are just some of the key considerations for vapers looking to head abroad.
Regarding legalities, it’s always best to do your research, although this information can at times be hard to come by. JAC has a few handy blogs regarding regulation in various countries including airports, favourite UK holiday destinations, and Australia. I highly recommend you give them a gander.
Having been on the road for four months straight and travelling to over twenty-five countries in the past five years, I believe there is a formula of sorts to help you best plan for your next exciting adventure.
So here’s how to take the stress out of vaping on your next trip abroad and ensure you have all the kit you need to keep you vaping happy and free to relax. Enjoy!
Hardware
Whether it’s a long-term jaunt or a quick break, I highly recommend the flexibility of a removable battery device such as the SERIES-B Tilt or DNA 75W, with a separate battery charger (or if you’re traveling for a longer period, two removable battery devices).
Due to its compact nature, the SERIES-B range is ideal for travellers. Both devices are discrete, with a solid build and barely take up room in your luggage. The removable IMR battery ensures you always have enough charge on you while wandering the streets of Granada, or finding yourself at a rock bar in Shinjuku at 4am. The last thing you want when traipsing the world is a clunky, unreliable device.
Travelling for under a month? Then take:
- 1x Device
- 2x IMR batteries
- 1x Portable charger
If you’re traveling for an extended period of time then I would highly recommend:
- 2x Devices
- 3x Batteries
Especially if you’re a klutz like me, and prone to falling into the sea off the coast of Koh Phangan, SERIES-B in one hand, refreshing gin fizz in the other (true story and textbook tale of a travelling vaper's woe). Fair to say, not even my trusty SERIES-B survived that one.
Software (E-Liquid)
Okay, so this one can be a little trickier but I can guarantee that if you follow my recommendations you’ll be vaping happy your entire trip, without fear of running out of e-juice.
My first recommendation is simple… choose picNIC.
Here’s the deal. As a vaper, you love alternating flavours, especially if you suffer from vaper's tongue as I do. This means either taking a bunch of premixed e-liquid with you, which can be taxing on your luggage allowance and bag space, especially if traveling with carry on only. OR, and this is my suggestion, make the most of the picNIC range.
For every two weeks that you’re away, I recommend:
- 1x 50ml picNIC Quick Mix bundle (25ml per week)
- 2-3x Flavour concentrates if you want to mix!
It’s true that some vapers go through e-liquid at a quicker rate, particularly if they favour a sub-ohm or high wattage setup. So, if you don’t think 25ml is enough for you per week then you might want to go for the 150ml bundle to be sure. I’ve found 25ml per week to be more than adequate, though.
For flavours, this is really up to you and how much variation to prefer. Two 10ml flavour concentrates are more than enough to cover one bottle of e-liquid base, however, the beauty of picNIC is that you can easily mix your flavours on the go, so why not take three or four?
So if you want to take the stress out of vaping abroad, while still enjoying the full vaping experience you know and love, definitely use this as a guide. Trust me, twenty-eight countries later, I’m all over it like a kid at Christmas.
