Tanks Help Guide

Tanks offer a cleaner taste, better vapour and more options. They are easy to fill and represent good value. There are a large number of tank styles available; clear, windowed, bottom coil, sub-ohm, RTA, mouth-to-lung and many more. Most tanks available now are re-buildable in some fashion, meaning that once the coil fitted inside has worn out, it can be swapped out for a replacement. This allows you to alter the coil resistance you are using quickly and easily, which will affect vapour production and throat hit.

All tanks are fitted with a coil (also known as an atomiser), which is what heats up in response to the power being delivered by the battery. As this heats up, it vaporises the e-liquid which is fed to it by a length of wicking material (commonly silica, or organic cotton).

The resistance of the coil will help to determine your e-cig's vapour production and throat hit, as well as how well flavour comes through. Resistance is measured in Ohms, and a coil with a lower Ohm will produce more vapour and throat hit, though there may be an effect on flavour. A coil with higher Ohms will generate less vapour and throat hit, but this does allows flavour to come through more cleanly.

A more recent development is the growing popularity of sub-ohm tanks. These have a very high amount of airflow, and use coils rated at less than 1.0Ohm. Sub-ohm vaping involves massive vapour production, meaning more e-liquid is vaporised per puff. More heat is being generated by the coil and more power is required as a result, meaning that specific batteries or devices are required in order to use a sub-ohm tank successfully.

If you think of the coil like the filament in a lightbulb, the power delivered by the battery causes it to heat up in just the same way. The resistance of the coil determines how much it will heat up, and as a result, how much vapour will be produced.

Crystal tanks hold 1.6ml of e-liquid, and thanks to the clear housing, it is easy to keep track of how much is left and when a refill is needed.

Our standard Crystal tanks are not rebuildable, meaning that when the coil is exhausted (after around 10 fills on average) the tank will need to be replaced.

To get the most from your tank, ensure that the wicks are given enough time to saturate fully when filling. We recommend that when filling for the first time you allow 20-30 minutes for the wicks to absorb the e-liquid. While using the tank, avoid allowing the wicks to dry out. Firing the tank while the wicks are not adequately saturated will lead to dry-burning, which causes an acrid, burnt taste.

Nova tanks feature a premium build quality, as well as the greatest capacity in our range. Our standard Nova tank will hold 2ml of e-liquid, while a larger 3.5ml version is also available.

Nova tanks come fitted with a 2.4Ohm long wick coil as standard, but are supplied with two spares (one 1.8Ohm, and one 2.8Ohm). Replacement coils are available for purchase separately.

The advantage of a bottom-coil design is the overall consistency of the vape. As the coil is permanently submerged in e-liquid, there is no need for a long wick, which in turn reduces the chance of dry-burning.

Our Vox tanks are available in stainless steel, black or red. The tanks feature a fixed mouth piece that cannot be swapped out.

Suitable for use with all Vgo2 batteries, our rebuildable Vox tanks hold 1.6ml of e-liquid and are fitted with a 2.5Ohm bottom-coil as standard.

The rebuildable Vox tank allows the user to replace the coil when it is exhausted (after around 10 refills on average). As the tank itself doesn't need to be replaced regularly, this is a more cost-effective option than the standard Crystal tank.

These tanks consist of a central element, known as a coil, which is fitted with a length of absorbent material, called a wick. When the tank is filled, the wick is submerged in e-liquid and in turn feeds this to the coil. When the battery is fired, the coil is activated and vaporises the e-liquid soaked within the wick.

Our V3i mini-tanks hold 0.9ml of e-liquid and are not rebuildable. They come fitted with a 2~2.2Ohm coil.

The Evod 2 tank is a bottom dual coil (BDC) rebuildable tank (replaceable wick and coil). Two coils are fitted on each head, which means greater vapour production. They use the same PT3 coils used by the rest of the Kanger Protank series.

The bottom fitting design also means smaller wicks and less chance of them running dry. The tanks feature a polypropylene chamber with a metal sheath covering and replaceable mouthtip.

Evod 2 tanks are filled from the bottom, meaning that the base of the tank unscrews from the rest of the unit. With the base removed, you will then have easy access in order to refill.

Evod 2 tanks are eGo threaded, meaning they look great out of the box, with no beauty ring required.

These tanks are not compatible with our V3i or Vgo2 range of products.
